Home Care Administrator Certificate Program (HCACP®)


PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The goal of the Home Care Administrator Certificate Program (HCACP®) is to provide a supportive learning environment to you, as a home care administrator. You will be able to advance your skills and knowledge base to position your organization to prosper in the rapidly changing health care environment and to incorporate the complexities of quality, compliance, financial and strategic performance. This three-day core curriculum is designed to prepare you for the challenges of administration and to thrive into the future.

The HCACP is a three-module curriculum:
  • LEGAL focuses on legal/compliance management to help you integrate quality, compliance and financial strategies appropriately and successfully.
  • FINANCE focuses on financial management principals and information.
  • STRATEGY focuses on vision driven leadership and performance management strategies to position your organization for success.

PROGRAM TOPICS
Upon successful completion of the HCACP, participants will be able to:
  • Identify key health care trends that will influence positioning strategies for your home care organization.
  • Integrate data management and analysis methods into your quality assessment and performance improvement program.
  • Implement key financial management strategies to prepare and interpret financial documents and to understand the impact of current changes in health care.
  • Understand the importance of various accounting methods to improve agency performance and position for success.
  • Understand leadership responsibilities in promoting a quality driven organization.
  • Integrate corporate compliance issues with clinical, financial and legal integrity of the organization.

Christine Lang

Christy brings more than 20 years of experience in healthcare data analysis, primarily focused on home health and hospice, to her role leading Simione´s efforts to increase and improve the use of data in consulting projects and client operations. Christy is an active member of the post-acute professional community, serving on a number of NAHC workgroups and committees and frequently presenting on topics that include business intelligence, benchmarking, quality measurement, customer satisfaction and value-based purchasing. Christy earned a Masters of Business Administration and a B.A. in political science and mathematics from the University of Washington.

Sharon Seaton, RN, BSN, CHPN, HCS-O, HCS-D

Sharon Seaton has 30 years of varied Home Health and Hospice experience in clinical and senior management, as well as experience in compliance in both for-profit and non-profit organizations. Her focus has been on quality, compliance and education. As an Executive Director, her agency won an award for Hospice of the Year for growth and quality scores. She also was the recipient of a Rotary International grant for rural hospice care and served as a board member for the Colorado Hospice and Palliative Care Association. She is currently an Clinical Product Development Specialist at The Corridor Group. Sharon has been a featured speaker at conferences across the U.S. showcasing both Hospice and Home Health coding and compliance.

Annette Lee, RN, MS, COS-C, Cahaba GBA, and CGS
Provider Insights, Inc.

Annette is a registered nurse, with a Master's in Health Care Administration, practicing since 1990, with the majority of her nursing experience in home health. For over a decade she worked with the CMS intermediary where she provided review of, and education on home health documentation. Annette then began providing outreach and provider education regarding Medicare reimbursement issues and effective documentation strategies, assisting providers with ADRs and appeals. Today she marries together her experience in the "real world" and the inside knowledge of Medicare to ensure providers can meet the requirements of CMS, and ensure compliant, efficient operations. She presents nationally on OASIS, PPS, documentation and coverage and provides content expertise to the CMS OASIS Q&A Mailbox. Annette holds both the Certificate for OASIS Specialist-Clinical and the Home Care Coding Specialist-Diagnosis certification. She is an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM Coding Trainer.

Angelo Spinola

With two decades of legal experience, Angelo Spinola's practice focuses on employment litigation with a special interest in the home health, home care and hospice industry. Bringing a wide breadth of knowledge across the health care spectrum, he works with an array of home-based care clients, including Fortune 500 organizations and franchisors, small-owned businesses and franchisees across multiple industries. Additionally, Angelo works closely with private equity firms and investment groups with respect to labor and employment issues that may arise during acquisitions and activities in these sectors.

Angelo partners with attorneys in Polsinelli's Health Care, Corporate and Transactional and Franchise practices to build coalitions that bring a deep bench of experience and industry knowledge to his clients in the home health, home care and hospice industry.

Angelo regularly represents employers across the United States in class actions brought under the Fair Labor Standards Act and state and wage hour laws.

Jennifer Evans
Office Managing Partner

Jennifer is a Shareholder in the Health Care Department, Practice Leader of the firm's Health Care Compliance practice and Office Managing Partner of the firm's Denver Office. Her legal practice is focused on fraud and abuse, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and regulatory compliance. She advises large health systems, emerging companies in health care and entities focused on behavioral health serving commercial and safety net patients.

Jennifer served as Deputy Director of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, the single state agency responsible for administering Medicaid and the CHP+ programs. At Colorado Medicaid she was responsible for Administration & Operations including audit, program integrity, provider enrollment, provider enrollment, claims payment and information technology. Jennifer previously served as Legislative Director and Legislative Assistant for Health Care in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives.
