New 2014 Program!
This new 2014 workshop offered coders of all levels the resources
needed to develop basic ICD-10-CM coding skills and foster good
habits crucial to coding success. Attendees received critical foundational
knowledge they will be able to apply come October 2015. It’s never too
early to start practicing. These coders received advance tanning,
through the use of workshop exercises and coding scenarios which
will lead to coding accuracy and regulatory compliance. Topics that

This workshop is what you’ve been waiting for! Lisa Selman-Holman
of Selman-Holman & Associates, LLC held a dynamic
training workshop in ICD-10-CM for Hospice coders of all levels!
The day began with a comprehensive look at ICD-9 and ICD-10 conventions
and sequencing guidelines. Attendees were than given the opportunity
to practice accessing the index in finding the codes, noting tabular
list instructions. The workshop then concluded by deciphering different
coding scenarios with emphases on the improvement in documentation,
and specific coding selections to describe terminal illness and terminal

Melinda Gaboury with Healthcare Provider Solutions held a very informative workshop on Medicare Home Health PPS Billing. The Home Health PPS Regulation for implementation January 2014 brought about changes to the PPS System, but most importantly the threat of more cuts in reimbursement. Ms. Gaboury helped attendees build a foundation for home health billing, as well as, financial staff by giving billers a more effective approach to the Medicare PPS regulation, conducting Medicare verifications and understanding adjustments. She also discussed Medicare verifications on patients with HIQH screen examples & reviewed adjacent episode calculations - field by field on claim forms. Melinda walked attendees through the review process of auditing a pre-bill for final claim purposes, both Medicare and Non-Medicare Payers, and reviewed the details of billing for Non-Routine Supplies using billing guidelines. Ms. Gaboury concluded the full day of instruction with a Q&A session where attendees were able to receive some much needed guidance on topics directly affecting their agencies.
Home Care & Hospice | March 2014 | Las Vegas
As the flagship of CAHSAH’s certificate programs the Home Care & Hospice Manager Certificate Programs in Las Vegas encompassed three days of intensive training. The program consisted of three modules, lending itself to Hospice, Private duty and Medicare-certified providers. The course reviewed local, state and federal regulations, different management styles, marketing trends, budgeting and finance, and human resources. The course also paved the way for attendees to mingle and network with other providers during an evening reception where industry leaders were there to assist individuals with all their home care needs from insurance, to medical equipment. After three days of training, many of the participants stayed after to take the Certified Home Care & Hospice Manager Examination. Successful completion of the certification exam demonstrates that the individual has attained a gold level knowledge of standards. Certification can also provide additional professional and personal recognition and reward of the individual’s knowledge and experience.

GREEN WITH SUCCESS!
Melinda Gaboury with Healthcare Provider Solutions gave participants
insight on the new changes Medicare billing regulations. With years
of Experience Melinda’s expertise gave attendees crucial information
on eligibility requirements for the Hospice Benefit, Hospice Benefit
Periods, and Eligibility The workshop continued with exploring NEW
billing regulations including; Detail GIP visits, inpatient Facility
Identification, Infusion pumps, Post- Mortem visit details. Attendees
also learned about regulations for billing, such as face to face
requirements. The full day workshop ended with attendees learning
about transfers, discharges, revocation, re-election and the Medicaid
Room and Board billing requirements. This well attended program
helped attendees take back what they learned to apply back at their
offices.
April 2014 & October 2014 | Sacramento & Ontario
The 2014 OASIS workshops in April and
October were s huge success! These 2-day workshops offered
effective, up-to-the-minute education targeted for field data
collectors, their supervisors and those preparing for the COS-C Exam,
including education on OASIS-C1 changes. This high interactive course
provided the latest CMS guidance related to OASIS data collection,
resources to support OASIS scoring practices and an arena to ask and
obtain answers to OASIS related questions. Participants were able to
practice their new found knowledge with application scenarios, strengthening
their data collection skills and use of resources. It was great to see
the excitement in the room as participants successfully answered the
application scenarios. Participants agreed that their increased knowledge
of OASIS data collection guidance will support their agency with greater
accuracy in reimbursement, outcomes and compliance.

Home Care and Hospice | July 2014 | Las Vegas
Participants from across the country gathered
on July 23-25 at Ceasers Palace, Las Vegas for three days of
intensive training on both home care and hospice. As the next step
in CAHSAH’s flag ship certificate programs, the Home Care & Hospice
Administrator Certificate Programs attracted over 200 participants,
and 20 specialty vendors. The program consisted of two modules
encompassing hospice, private duty and Medicare-certified providers.
The course reviewed local, state and federal regulations, different
leadership styles, health care trends, strategic planning, positioning,
financial management, financial performance reviews, and compliance risk.
The course also allowed attendees to mingle and network with other
providers during an evening reception with top industry vendors who met a wide range of agency needs.
Immediately following the program, many participants put their knowledge
to the test by taking the Certified Home Care Administrator and Executive
Examination to become a “Certified Home Care Administrator”.

Home Care and Hospice | September 2013 | Las Vegas
The Home Care Executive Certificate Program and the Hospice Executive Certificate Program were a re-sounding success, held in Las Vegas September 11 – 13. It was truly an advanced group with nearly all senior executives with five or more years of experience, and several with more than 20!
The group heard from dynamic speakers who had advanced discussions on strategy, competition, legal and financial issues. In today’s health care market, the small group case studies also provided additional small group discussion time to delve deeper into critical questions and help create thought leadership within their organizations. From developing your agency’s value proposition to addressing bundling and accountable care organizations, the time flew by and left the participants excited to attend or to send their managers to the next program!
In 2015, we will be offering the Manager Certificate Programs in California in March, the Administrator Certificate Programs in Las Vegas in July, and the Executive Certificate Programs October at the same time.
