CAHSAH has recently analyzed data from the 2014 Annual Utilization Report of Home Health Agencies/Hospices compiled by the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD). We were then able to add this data to our series dating back to 1996. This allows us to look at ten-year trends (2004-2014) for California's home health industry. Hospice data is not reflected in this analysis, but will be analyzed in a future report. The data in this analysis includes licensed home health agencies and licensed home health agencies with hospices. They do not include data for organizations which are not licensed as home health agencies such as home care aide organizations. The analysis includes the following categories:

During 2013, hospice utilization continued its steady growth. Evidence of this growth can be seen in the total number of visits which grew by 121 percent since 2004. Total days increased 56 percent since 2004 and total gross revenue increased by 192 percent over the ten year timeframe. The analysis of hospice utilization trends is based on data reported to the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) from the Annual Utilization Report of Home Health Agencies/Hospices for the years 2004 through 2013.
