PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Home Care Manager Certificate Program HCMCP® is an interactive and intensive educational program, providing leading edge management concepts and skills that are critical for home care managers to know and understand.

This program was designed to accommodate all sections of home care, from private pay to large home care agencies. There are two modules to choose from: Home Care Aide / Private Duty or Medicare Certified track. This program was designed to improve your leadership skills, learn the fundamentals of budgeting, marketing, financial management, PDGM, compliance, regulatory and human resources of entry level home care managers. 


Program Goals:

Medicare Certified Track Breakout Session Goals:

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The Home Care Manager Certificate Program HCMCP® was designed for front-line supervisors, new or established business owners, administrators or assistant administrators, directors or assistant directors, CEOs, COOs, operations managers, human resource managers, finance and marketing managers, case managers, clinical nurse supervisors, DPCS, DON, office managers, emerging or middle managers, or any middle management personnel of a home care aide / private duty organization or a Medicare certified home health agency. More experienced managers will gain insights and a refreshed understanding of home care or home health.

Brittnei Salerno is the President and Owner of La Jolla Nurses Homecare. With more than 21 years of Home Care management experience, Brittnei is a recognized industry leader. An active advocate, she's past Chair for CAHSAH®'s Board of Directors, PAPA Committee and Licensed Home Health Agency Committee. She has been honored for her outstanding contributions to the development of local, state and federal home care associations. In 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007 she received the Grassroots Advocate of the Year award and is a past recipient of CAHSAH®'s Lois Lillick Award (2006).

Lia Smith
CEO
A Better Solution Inc.

Lia founded A Better Solution in Home Care (ABS) in 2000, growing it into one of San Diego’s largest and most respected home care agencies with over 275 caregivers and nurses. In 2017, she expanded ABS with a Medicare-certified Home Health division, creating a continuum of care for diverse client needs. Starting as a CNA at 22, Lia’s career rapidly progressed, leading her to develop a unique business model that bridges gaps in healthcare resources. 

A previous and current board member of CAHSAH, as well as the Current Chair for the San Diego Regional Council, Lia is an advocate for senior issues at the state and local level. In 2015, after building her Agency to over five million dollars in billable hours, she franchised the ABS brand, extending its reach to over 24 locations nationwide. Smith founded a nonprofit organization to support San Diego’s homeless population, A Better Solution Community Resource Organization (ABSCRO), and worked together with community groups to supply San Diegos homeless with much needed clothing, food and resources. With over 25 years in the industry and as the author of The Homecare Bible, and Smart Steps to big Dreams, Lia is committed to empowering others through knowledge, adaptability, and service to the community, bringing agencies together to create synergy within the San Diego Home Care market.

Lia’s passion is small business growth and streamlining operations while producing marketing techniques that are simple, and easy to follow for growth, and maximum financial success. Currently creating and operating several other business ventures; The Beauty Concierge Med Spa, as well as My Expert Witness, Lia Smith’s business acumen reaches beyond home care into other business lines, creating success with her proven method of business analyzation, and unique approach to finding a niche and creating diverse opportunities for growth. 



Elizabeth Murphy

Elizabeth focuses her practice in employment law, representing a wide variety of California and national employers in various industries, including accounting, retail, banking, manufacturing, and hospitality.

Ms. Murphy also specializes in the field of home healthcare through her extensive lecturing and advising work in support of home care employers throughout the state of California. She is also a frequent contributor to Home Health Line, a subscription-only industry publication that helps home health agencies provide excellent patient care and increase profitability.

Ms. Murphy's experience includes advising employers in day-to-day management and decision making issues, such as handling sensitive terminations, preparing and negotiating employment and severance agreements, preparing and revising employee handbooks, training management and staff, and administering leaves of absence; and representing employers in wrongful termination, discrimination, sexual harassment, wage and hour, and other employment-related litigation in state and federal court.

Melinda A. Gaboury, with more than 30 years in home care, has over 22 years of executive speaking and educating experience, including extensive day-to-day interaction with home care and hospice professionals. She routinely conducts Home Care and Hospice Reimbursement Workshops and speaks at state association meetings throughout the country. Melinda has profound experience in Medicare PDGM training, billing, collections, case-mix calculations, chart reviews and due diligence. UPIC, RA, ADR & TPE appeals with all Medicare MACs have become the forefront of Melinda's current impact on the industry. Melinda is currently serving on the NAHC/HHFMA Advisory Board and Work Group, is Treasurer on the Home Care Association of Florida Board of Directors, and was named to the Tennessee Association for Home Care Board of Directors in 2022. Melinda is also the author of the Home Health OASIS Guide to OASIS-E and Home Health Billing Answers, 2023.

Interpreting, then applying regulations is her greatest strength and is pivotal with survey strategy and sustaining compliance. Professional and team development is her passion.

Brian has served various clients - such as home health agencies, hospices, and adult day health cares - as well as a diverse range of organizations including business startups, large corporations, private sector, and nonprofits. He is an advocate of post-acute care providers, leveraging the financial and health outcome benefits they can provide, as well as their role in the continuum of care. Brian enjoys positioning clients to make successful financial, clinical, and operational decisions that have a lasting, positive impact on clients and the patients they serve - specifically clients seeking clinical, operational, educational, survey/licensure, and financial/reimbursement assistance can receive industry-specific expertise. 

Neil Rotter

A nationally recognized health care executive, Neil has spent over 25 years in the field and is highly decorated for his work. He was awarded with the Lois C Lillick Award by the California Association for Health Services at Home, and H2Marketing awarded him with their Home Care Marketing Manager of the Year title.

Neil also worked on the development and implementation of the Employer of Record Respite Program throughout California’s Regional Centers, which serves individuals with developmental disabilities.

Rotter holds dual Master’s Degrees in Gerontology and Social Work from the University of Southern California in 1996. He has significant frontline experience in a range of settings, including home health care, an inpatient geropsychiatric program, adult older housing placement services, a senior center, and a domestic abuse counseling center.


CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION & CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEUs)

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (Provider #CEP17394) for twenty-one (21) contact hours of continuing education. You must be present for the entire workshop to earn Continuing Education Units. No partial credits can be given. Certificates will be distributed at the completion of the program on the third day.


CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations are subject to a 20% handling fee. There will be no refunds issued for cancellations received within 10 business days prior to program. Cancellation requests must be in writing. Refunds will not be made for no-shows. However, substitutions will be allowed. Should CAHSAH® cancel the program, a full registration fee refund will be issued.
