Message from the Chair | October 2024
Happy October CAHSAH Members!
I can’t believe that it is now October, and I have the honor of following Elaine Flores, to serve as the new Chairperson of the California Association for Health Services at Home (CAHSAH) Board of Directors. I want to introduce myself to those of you who may not know me.
I have worked in the home health field for many (many) years and currently work for Home Health Care Management, Inc, a home health agency based out of Chico, CA. I started my home health career at the Visiting Nurse Association of Los Angeles and moved east and was with the Visiting Nurse Association of the Inland Counties for several years. I moved to Northern California over 20 years ago and have been here ever since.
In recent years, I have spent a lot of time working with several of the Medi-Cal Waiver Programs. I have served on the CAHSAH Medi-Cal Committee for over fifteen years. When I first served on that committee, we met in person in the old CAHSAH Sacramento Office and had several state representatives attend our meetings. Things have truly changed over the years, especially with the onset of COVID. Now almost everything has gone to virtual meetings. Virtual meetings have saved time and made things easier, but we have lost some of that personal touch that I remember.
Over the years I have seen how CAHSAH has grown and evolved as the home health environment has changed, adding Home Care Aide and Hospice agencies. When I started in home health, everything was focused primarily on the intermittent home health patients. Over the years, CAHSAH has expanded to include so much more. And the changes keep on coming. In these changing times, Dean and the CAHSAH staff are a fantastic team to be working with. I am looking forward to serving as the new Chairperson in these changing times.
I am excited to be following Elaine in this position. I look forward to the next 2 years serving as the Chairperson and working with all of you. Thank you for giving me this opportunity.
Respectfully submitted,
Julie Lehmann
