Hospice Medicare CoPs & Interpretive Guidelines

Updated with latest changes to Federal Hospice Conditions of Participation effective August 2023. 

The Interpretive Guidelines were established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) to provide guidance to personnel conducting surveys of hospices. They serve to clarify and/or explain the intent of the regulations not the imposition of additional requirements. The purpose of the protocols and guidelines is to direct the surveyor's attention to avenues of investigation in preparation for the survey, during the survey, and evaluating the survey findings.
